With a large number of figures, three scenes are depicted simultaneously: the saint on the right, dressed in a friar’s habit, protests the burial of the usurer in consecrated ground, since the soul of the deceased is condemned, and he quotes the Gospel of Luke: “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Luke 12:34). An autopsy is conducted on the corpse of the usurer, and, indeed, no heart is found in it. On the left, we see the discovery of the heart in the money chest of the deceased.
